Bringing a ceramics studio to life.
I have designed a visual identity for Joana Passos' ceramics studio, drawing inspiration from the earthy tones of clay and the one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces, to elevate her brand and add depth to her artistic practice.
Joana Passos Studio is located in the heart of Lisbon and is home to the creation of not only beautifully handcrafted ceramic pieces but also other art pieces making use of different materials. Joana's art practice focuses on pushing the materials to their limits through folding, finding corners, and creating creases and new volumes. Also, she normally combines two or more materials in the same piece. The choice of the materials emerges from their qualities: complementing hardness with softness, resistance with elasticity, and permanence with changeability.

When I opened my ceramic studio I started looking for someone to bring it to life with the visual language I had envisioned. I found my experience with Inês to be fun rather than work. Inês is very organized, does not miss a deadline, and her method made the whole project go smoothly. I believe working in a close collaboration led to exchanging points of view which resulted in a productive alliance of ideas that elevated the final design solution to something better than I alone could have imagined. Inês was able to take my ideas to the next level and make them real. Inês’s creativity and enthusiasm towards the project made me feel confident about my own work, as she's always very respectful giving me space to speak freely and give feedback at all times. It's amazing how she was able to understand me, my work, and my studio!
